What Is an FRL Unit and What Does Each Component Do?

Note: Not all applications need a lubricator. Modern pneumatic cylinders and many valves use self-lubricating seals and should NOT receive oil mist, as it degrades the seal material. Confirm with your component manufacturer before fitting a lubricator.

Choosing the Right FRL Unit Key Sizing Factors
Port size
Most FRL units come in 1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, and 3/4″ BSP. Match the port size to your airline pipe or tubing undersizing creates pressure drop; oversizing wastes money.
Flow rate

Filtration grade

Modular vs combined
Modular FRL units allow individual components to be replaced or upgraded independently. Combined units (FR only, or FRL) save space and are quicker to install but less flexible.
