Vacuum technology is essential in both industry and research due to its precision, compact design, and efficiency. Used widely across sectors like automotive, electronics, and medical fields, it supports fast, low-maintenance operations. Festo provides a full range of vacuum solutions, including generators, suction cups, and grippers.
Suction cups are used in industrial automation technology to lift and transport objects of all kinds, especially in vacuum systems. They form the interface between the machine and the workpiece. To ensure that a workpiece can be gripped securely, it is important to select suction cups that match the material properties of the workpiece in question. For example, some suction cups are particularly suitable for use at high temperatures, while others are highly resistant to heavy contamination.
Festo vacuum generators have a single-stage design and operate according to the Venturi principle, i.e. they use compressed air to generate a vacuum. With the Venturi principle, compressed air is introduced into the ejector and accelerated to supersonic speed in the so-called Venturi gland, a constricted cross-section of the jet nozzle. As soon as the air has passed the jet nozzle, a vacuum is created and the air is sucked in through the intake opening. The compressed air and intake air can escape from the vacuum generator through the female nozzle as exhaust air.
